BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH
Overview
Bolsa Chica State Beach extends three miles from Seal Beach to Huntington
Beach City Pier. A bikeway connects it with Huntington State Beach,
seven miles south. It is located near Costa Mesa along the Pacific
Coast Highway between Golden West and Warner Avenues. Accessible
features have been modified and improved over recent years, and
more improvements are planned.
Camping
Accessible RV campsites, restrooms, routes of travel and parking
are available. Electrical hook-ups are available.
Picnic Area
Accessible picnic sites are located along beach area near accessible
snack bar.
Trails
The accessible Multi-Use Beachfront Trail extends 1.0 mile along
the shore. It is a popular paved trail used by hikers, bikers and
roller skate/blade users. Entry and accessible parking is from any
day use lot. Accessible restroom and drinking water are located
at the entrance station.
CRYSTAL COVE STATE
PARK
Overview
Crystal Cove State Park has 3.5 miles of beach and 2,000 acres of
undeveloped woodland, which is popular for hiking and horseback
riding. The offshore waters are designated as an underwater park.
The first phase of the historic cottage district opened June 26,
2006. More major reconstruction will enhance accessibility in the
future. The park is located off the Pacific Coast Highway between
Corona Del Mar and Laguna Beach.
Camping
Cottages. Thirteen historic cottages have been rehabilitated for
overnight use, and three of the cabins are accessible, including
one that is a dorm cabin. They may be reserved in advance. Reservations
opened this past April, and many cabins are already booked through
January.
Crystal Cove Beach Cottages are located on the
ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach. When driving
south on Pacific Coast Highway from Corona del Mar and points north,
the entrance to the Historic District of Crystal Cove State Park
is located at the Los Trancos cross street, the first traffic light
after Crystal Heights Drive.
Picnic Area
El Morro Area. One small picnic area near the restrooms is generally
accessible. Parking: Designated accessible parking is available.
Restroom: A unisex restroom is generally accessible. Routes of travel
to above facilities are generally accessible.
Pelican Point Area. The picnic area at Lot 4 has three accessible
tables on a firm and stable surface. Restroom: Two accessible toilet
rooms are available. Parking: Two accessible spaces are available.
Routes of travel between facilities are generally accessible.
Trails
The Bluff Top Multi-Use Trail is an accessible, paved interpretive
trail along the coastal bluffs. Entry, accessible parking and restrooms
at Pelican Point or Reef Point day use lots.
Beach/Shore Access
Pelican Point Boardwalk: An 865-foot long boardwalk from Lot 2,
near an accessible restroom, leads through a restored botanical
area to an ocean overlook. There are some gaps between boards a
bit greater than 0.5 inch, but the view is worth the effort. Restoration
of beach cottages for multiple public uses will continue to improve
access to beach via the historic area.
Exhibits/Programs
The redesigned El Morro Visitor Center packs a lot into a small
space. It is open daily during the summer. The structure is on one
level and is generally accessible. Restrooms, parking, and routes
of travel are generally accessible.
DOHENY STATE BEACH
Overview
Doheny State Beach offers camping in the southern area and day use
in the northern area. The beach is a mile north of Interstate 5
at 25300 Dana Point Harbor Drive.
Camping
Accessible campsites are available. Restrooms with showers are accessible.
Accessible parking is available adjacent to the restrooms. The campfire
center is accessible.
Picnic Area
North Day Use Area. Accessible picnic sites are available in the
Promenade and group picnic areas. Accessible restrooms and parking
spaces are nearby.
Beach/Shore Access
Two beach wheelchairs are available. A wooden boardwalk extends
from near the North picnic area about halfway across the beach.

locations along the beach.
Exhibits/Programs
Visitor Center. Located just south of the entrance station, the
visitor center/aquarium structure is generally accessible, as are
many of the exhibits. Assistance may be needed and is available
to reach some items.
HUNTINGTON STATE BEACH
Overview
Huntington Beach State Beach extends two miles from Beach Boulevard
in Huntington Beach south to the Santa Ana River on the Newport
Beach boundary.
Trails
An accessible, paved multi-use beachfront trail extends the length
of the park (about 1 mile) and then on to nearby Bolsa Chica SB
for about another 8 miles. Trailhead, mostly accessible parking
and accessible restroom are at the south end of park. Accessible
entry available from any day use lot.
Beach/Shore Access
Huntington Beach has four wide, paved paths departing from various
areas of the multi-use trail that lead to the beach at about high
tide level. They are accessible, but include some slopes at the
beach end. Two paths at the south end of the beach lead toward the
beach and are mostly accessible. Shade structures with accessible
features are available at the foot of both Newland Street and Brookhurst
Street. Designated accessible parking and restrooms are near these
areas.
A Beach Wheelchair is available at Magnolia Kiosk for visitors to
use to get beyond these ramps.
SAN CLEMENTE STATE BEACH
Overview
San Clemente State Beach is located near the south end of San Clemente
off I-5. The park entrance is reached via the Avenida Calafia exit.
Camping
Four tent sites and three full hook-up sites are accessible. Accessible
restrooms with showers and adjacent accessible parking spaces are
nearby.
Picnic Area
North Day Use Area. Accessibly located and designed picnic sites
are available. They include water and fire grills. Restrooms and
parking are also accessible.
Beach/Shore Access
Beach wheelchairs are available. Contact park entrance kiosk at
arrival to arrange for use and delivery to campsite. North beach
access trail is the less steep of the two trails to beach, but transport
for chair and rider in park vehicle may be arranged.
Exhibits/Programs
Visitor Center. Visitor Center. Information on the history of San
Clemente and of the San Clemente beach is generally accessible in
the visitor center. Accessible restroom and parking are available
in the adjacent day use lot.
