The International air transport passengers are increased to 9.5% in February whereas cargo traffic was increased to 26.5% said in a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“We are moving in the right direction. In two to three months, the industry should be back to its pre-recession traffic levels although this is still not a full upturn. The task forward is to change to two years of lost development," said in a statement by IATA Director General and CEO Giovanni Bisignani.
The International air transport is increased on February 2010 compared to February 2009 when the airlines passenger traffic spotted bottom and December 2008 cargo traffic bottomed. The passenger traffic should be raised to 1.4% and cargo traffic should be raised to 3% to reach the pre recession levels. The cargo traffic increased in February, 2010 by 75.5% and if seasonally adjusted an all time record February load factor of 79.3%.
The air traffic of Asia-Pacific carriers is posted to 13.5% growth. European carriers posted the weakest growth at 4.3% as a result of slow economy, growing joblessness and worker strike. North American airlines posted a weak growth of 4.4%. Middle Eastern airlines posted traffic growth of 25.8% the strongest of several regions. Latin American carriers posted growth of 8.5%. African airlines posted growth of 9.8%.

The Defense Logistics Agency's Defense Energy Support Center and Air Transport Association (ATA) signed in an agreement intended to urge the development and use of air transport alternative fuels.
“By collaborating, we reinforce our commitment to fostering the widespread commercialization of alternative jet fuel,” “In the evolving landscape of alternative energy, it is in our collective interest to see aviation at the forefront. The airline industry and DoD collectively require more than 1.5 million barrels of jet fuel per day.” said in a statement by James C. May, CEO and President of ATA.
“This is a significant step forward in the alternative fuels arena, and further shows commitment by the Department of Defense and the commercial aviation industry in our mutual goal of promoting energy security and safeguarding the health of our environment,” said in a statement by DESC Commander Rear Adm. Kurt Kunkel.
“Development of alternative fuels as an energy solution to our customers and the commercial aviation industry is still in the initial stages, but actions such as this alliance will make those potential solutions a reality as we work together and leverage our capabilities,” said in a statement by Kunkel.
The alliance teams are planned to participate in a special aviation conference at the Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference April 27-29 in Washington and will hold an industry forum at the 2010 DESC Worldwide Energy Conference on May 10-12 in Maryland, where they will gather with alternative fuel suppliers. The General Civil Aviation Authority or GCAA of Dubai announced on Sunday said that national air transport recording higher rates in February compared to last year. Overflights were after that of 10,263, or 21.5%. Abu Dhabi ranked third with 7,128 flights and Sharjah International Airport was fourth with 4,955. Domestic flights among UAE airports were fifth with 2,889 movements and Fujairah International Airport hold 459.
