Bush advocates purchasing hybrid autos

President Bush toured two U.S. automobile plants last week, looked under the cover of a hybrid car, and advised Americans to purchasing more modern-fuel vehicles."You are making a new kind of auto that is literally a part of changing America for the better," Bush told automobile workers at a Ford assembly plant near Kansas City.Seeking to give a boost to his domestic plans in his final two years as president, Bush has stated a program to restrain growth in automobile emissions by raising the use of alternative fuels and developing fuel efficiency.

State subsidizes automobile traffic

Hike in automobile prices


It's that time of year when all automobile companies raise prices of their vehicles, reports CNBC-TV18. Hyundai Motor India has announced a raise in the preliminary price of its latest mid-size offering- the Hyundai Verna across both its diesel and petrol models. The price raising varies from Rs 3,500 for its base petrol model to Rs 10,000 for its diesel model.The increase, necessitated by increasing input costs and other inflationary forces, is in the range of 1 to 1.2% on the present price.

Automobile volume growth likely to remain strong


In the four-wheeler section the results were mixed but relatively in line with street expectations. The increase in incomes of the auto majors was led by volume growth and increase in the realizations. There is amazing growth visibility in some of these companies assisted by largely optimism in the domestic passenger car segmentWith the commissioning of Maruti's new car plant Maruti's sum capacity stands increased to 750,000. As the new plant ability could be additional ramped up to 350,000 units/year. Maruti's overall capacity would surely reach 1m by 2009.

Japan car sales slow to lowest in 29 years

TOKYO: Japan's automobile sales fell for a 21st corresponding month, led by Nissan Motor and Toyota Motor, capping their worst business year since 1977.

Sales of cars, trucks and buses, not including minicabs, fell 12.6 percent to 487,738 automobile in March from a year earlier, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said in a release on Monday. Nissan's sales fell 16 percent, as Toyota's dropped 12 percent.

Man convicted of automobile homicide

A 2nd District judges last week offender a 49-year-old Ogden man of killing two people as driving under the pressure of methamphetamine preceding year. Eddie Raymond Bustos was found responsible last week of two counts of automobile homicide in the Dec. 13 deaths of Philemon Ellis, 62, and Jessica Nelson, 21, both of Ogden. Following a two-day test, Bustos also was convicted of one count of evasion police during a terminated chase, which preceded the fatal crash. The charges are all second-degree felonies, carrying probable 1-to-15-year prison terms. Sentencing is set for May 8.
