Assaults and Automobile Accidents

Public safety is something basic for communal peace, for development and the comfort of a civilized community. Unfortunately, for many years now, chiefly most lately, assaults with or without deadly weapons, which take place in homes, stores and parking lots, are alarming as of their frequency and violence.

The first thing that is seen on TV news is injured and dead victims. It is almost a daily thing to see policemen cordoning off a crime sight and ambulances taking away the injured or dead

TN auto sector can touch $ 20 b

"Tamil Nadu's automotive industry that accounts for 25 per cent share of the Indian automotive industry at present need to target a 30-35 per cent share by 2015 that would even translate into $ 18-20 billion in net output terms.

"Exports of automotive components will now be for about $ 6-7 billion and the domestic sales components and totally built units (CBUs) at $ 5 billion. Exports of CBUs and engineering design services can even give around $ 1.5-2 billion to the total output by 2015," said Shaktikanta Das, Industries Secretary, and Government of Tamil Nadu.

Automobile industry crosses 10-mn-unit bar

Output of passenger cars had grew by 18.59 per cent.

The automobile industry is now operating at full choke, with new production crossing the 10-million-vehicle mark in the first 11 months of the calendar year.

Growing at an amazing 16.82 per cent over previous year, the industry produced 10,031,886 vehicles till last November this year, as against 8,587,131 in 2005.

Automobile Online Advertising Tops in October 2006

Chinese technology research new firm iResearch reports that automobile online advertising was RMB23.03 million during January 2006 and this number recently jumped up to 120% to RMB50.63 million during October 2006.

iResearch says the increase of automobile online advertising benefits from the wealth of the entire Chinese automobile industry.

Too many Chinese cars are lemons

Price wars have now taken a tax on the quality of Chinese-produced cars, with defects reported in 78% of them in the first six months of use, according to a market survey.

The 2006 China Automobile Customer Satisfaction Index (CACSI) stated major faults carry tires, air-conditioning, braking systems, locks and also steering wheels. For every 100 new cars, there were on standard 338 defects, real higher than last year's 246.
