DEARBORN, Mich (AFX) - Ford Motor Company said it is now exploring tactical options for its subsidiary Automobile Protection Corporation (APCO), with special emphasis on a potential sale of the business.
Ford bought APCO in 1999 and this unit offers vehicle service contracts and related after-market products to car dealers.
The nation's automobile sales figures continues to sink for the first nine months of this year, with last month seeing a very drastic decline of more than 40 percent, latest statistics show.
Car sales during the period from January to last month summed at 286,238 units, a 30 percent drop from the same period last year, according to figures released by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
