The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) arranged similar gender screening for cases when travelers when the metal detectors are alarmed as they walk through. One month earlier to the authorized statement by Transport Canada that Ottawa will set in full body scanners in Canada airports.
There was no event which led to the concern by CATSA of reports statement to company that hold transport safety at 89 gateways across Canada. The rule was put in place to enhance procedures and avoid problems related with body searches.
The metal detector alarm trigger would involve that the machine scan all parts of the body in search of metal pieces. The traveler may be necessary to get off belt or shoes. For body searches done not in public which the traveler may demand two officers of the similar gender as the passenger are necessary. One will do the search and the other will observe to make certain that the body search follows regular process and nothing rude takes place.
Body searches quickly turn into an obsession of the past as other Canadian airports put in place the full body scanners that generate three dimensional images of the body whereas the traveler leaves throughout the equipment dressed.
The Pearson International Airport and the Vancouver Airport previously contain the complete body scanners whereas CATSA will establish the full body scanners in main gateways this month and 36 new in the subsequent months.
