Many adults in Australia are worried about the result of fuel costs, according to a News poll published in The Australian. 83 per cent of respondents think their domestic would be worse off as a result of the increase in petrol prices.
The average price of a liter of unleaded petrol has risen by more than 60 per cent in Australia over the past four years. On Aug. 6, Australian Prime Minister John Howard discussed the state, saying, "We hope that we're not in an era of ever-rising petrol prices and perhaps somewhere in between where that settles, $1.15, $1.20, there's some hope of that, but once again in the medium term."
On Aug. 14, Howard introduced a plan to curb the collision of high fuel prices on consumers. The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) has urged the government to decrease the excise tax by 10 cents per liter.
